Aiexpress – Wednesday, just over a half-hour into the new year, Erie police reported that bullets had been fired in a westside neighborhood, injuring two persons, one seriously.
The victims, a 20-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, were apparently leaving a home party in the 1900 block of West 19th Street when they were shot, according to Erie police Deputy Chief Rick Lorah on Wednesday morning. The shooting was reported Wednesday at 12:37 a.m., he said.
Police have no suspects in the shooting on Wednesday morning.
Officers who arrived to the area after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired discovered the woman, who had been wounded in the head, Lorah said. The woman was sent to the hospital and was last believed to be in critical condition, he said.
Lorah said the man was carried to the hospital in a private vehicle after being shot in the leg. The man was treated and freed, he stated.
Lorah stated that police are gathering evidence at the scene as well as locating and evaluating a large amount of surveillance film from security cameras in the shooting area. Detectives have a lot of individuals to talk to, he added.
Anyone with information that can help Erie police with the shooting investigation is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Ronald Pilarski at 814-870-1229 or Detective David Madurski at 814-870-1508.
