AIexpress – One person died and two were hurt in a two-car accident in south Lubbock County on Saturday night, according to officials.
A report from the Texas Department of Public Safety says that 36-year-old Fabian Vitolas of New Home was declared dead at the scene of the crash on U.S. Highway 87 near County Road 7150 at 9:35 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators think he was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche west on CR 7150 when he ignored a stop sign at the U.S. 87 crossing and kept going on the highway. The driver’s side of the Avalanche was hit by a 2017 Dodge Durango going north on U.S. 87.
Lisa Rodriguez, 40, of Lubbock was driving the Durango. She was wearing a seatbelt and only had minor injuries. She was taken to get help at University Medical Center.
Christopher Dunn, 22, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, was a passenger in the Avalanche. He was seriously hurt and was taken to UMC. Plus, he had a seatbelt on.
Other things that might have caused the crash weren’t clear right away because the study was still going on.
