Aiexpress – A suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a Virginia man in Maine last month has been apprehended in California, state police announced late Tuesday afternoon.
Luke Krott, 26, of Edgecomb, was arrested on a warrant Monday night on a sailboat at a port in San Diego, California, according to state police.
Krott was arrested in connection with the murder of William “Nate” Robinson, 34, of Austinville, Virginia. Robinson’s body was discovered inside a trash barrel in the Schmid Preserve on the Old County Road in Edgecomb on December 3, state police said.
The Augusta Office of Chief Medical Examiner decided that Robinson died as a result of a gunshot wound and ruled his death murder.
Detectives obtained a search request at 57 Conant Road in Turner on December 12, and evidence discovered there tied Krott to Robinson’s murder, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant.
Krott, who was staying with his parents in Edgecomb, fled the state and was apprehended Monday night with the assistance of the San Diego Police Department’s Fugitive Task Force, the FBI, and the United States Marshals.
Krott is currently being held at the San Diego Central Jail on a fugitive from justice charge, pending extradition to Maine, where he will face a murder charge, according to state police.
“The Maine State Police would like to thank our local and federal law enforcement partners for their assistance in locating and apprehending Krott,” the department said.
State police stated the inquiry into Robinson’s death is still ongoing.
Edgecomb is a small settlement situated north of Boothbay Harbor and south of Waterville. The town has a population of 1,188 at the 2020 census.
