Border Security Enhanced in Texas with Installation of New Anti-Climb Fence

Texas has recently erected a new “anti-climb” fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, a move that reflects the ongoing criticism from Republicans regarding President Joe Biden’s border policies.

In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, Fox News reporter Matt Finn shared a video showcasing camouflaged Texas troops diligently installing a barrier near El Paso. According to Finn, this fence bears a striking resemblance to the “wall” previously set up at Eagle Pass. It is worth noting that the deployment of a significant number of Texas National Guard personnel in response to Governor Greg Abbott’s declaration of a border “disaster” earlier this year has been instrumental in this endeavor.

Finn shared an exclusive video that provides a first-hand look at Texas’ new wire fence and barrier being installed in El Paso. The seven-second footage showcases the installation of a standard wire fence, reinforced with multiple layers of razor wire. Finn compares it to the highly effective “wall” found in Shelby Park, Eagle Pass. The video reveals miles of this newly constructed barrier.

Republicans are cheering the development as a clear rejection of the Biden administration and a significant win for Abbott. The Texas governor has been a fierce advocate for this issue, even going so far as to call for the return of former President Donald Trump to the White House.

Charlie Kirk, a conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, claimed that the fence was erected as a challenge to “the Biden Regime.” He further pointed out that just last month, a significant number of undocumented migrants managed to topple a fence and overpower the Texas National Guard while trying to cross the border in that very location.

“Texas continues to defy the Biden Regime as it reclaims control of the El Paso border,” Kirk expressed on X. “This morning, the Texas National Guard took action by installing concertina wire and a new anti-climb fence. The previous razor wire barrier was torn apart by a mob of undocumented individuals on March 21st, after pushing through border personnel and engaging in riots.”

Right-wing political cartoonist Ben Garrison recently shared a captivating illustration depicting President Biden enclosed within a fence adorned with razor wire. The wire cleverly forms the acronym “MAGA,” symbolizing the support for the Make America Great Again movement. In the cartoon, an armadillo proudly holding the Texas flag gazes at the president, warning him not to underestimate the strength and resilience of Texas. Garrison expressed similar sentiments to Kirk when he shared this thought-provoking artwork.

Garrison expressed a strong sentiment by stating, “Don’t mess with Texas!” He highlighted the action taken by the Texas National Guard in defiance of the Biden administration. Specifically, they regained control of the El Paso border by installing concertina wire (razor wire) and a new anti-climb fence.

According to the Conservative Read, an account dedicated to combating biased mainstream media, the fence was a response to Biden’s prioritization of immigrants without legal status.

“While the Biden administration refuses to close the border, prioritizing undocumented immigrants, Texas is taking proactive measures to safeguard our nation’s sovereignty and security,” the account stated in response to Finn’s video. They shared that the Texas National Guard is currently installing additional wire fences and barriers in El Paso.”

Not all Americans are celebrating Texas’ moves to unilaterally enforce its own border policies, going against the federal government. The Biden administration and many others on the political left have criticized Abbott’s tactics as heavy-handed and “cruel.” Additionally, these policies have encountered several court challenges.

Biden has accused Republicans of deliberately exacerbating the migrant situation in order to increase their chances of winning the presidential election in November. He highlighted Trump’s call to GOP lawmakers to oppose a $118 billion bill, which included $20 billion for border security, earlier this year.

Following the incident on March 21, where more than 100 asylum seekers overpowered troops and tore down a razor wire fence in El Paso, the installation of a new fence has been initiated. This event, which some have referred to as a “riot,” involved individuals attempting to illegally enter the United States.

A judge in El Paso issued a release order for numerous migrants who were accused of participating in a certain event. However, Michael Cuccaro, the executive director of El Paso County Council of Judges, informed Newsweek that all of them were going back into the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.

Last week, Abbott announced his decision to increase the military presence at the border in response to the incident. He has ordered an additional 700 Texas National Guard troops to El Paso, which includes “200 Soldiers of the Texas Tactical Border Force.”
