Warrant Issued for N.C. Woman Accused of Stealing $9K from Missouri Energy Provider

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aiexpress) — Police in Missouri say a woman from North Carolina tried to steal thousands of dollars from an energy company in Missouri by using a check that she got in the mail. She has been charged with theft.

Police in Clinton County, Missouri, charged 26-year-old Destinee A. McCormick with stealing a check from the U.S. Postal Service on Friday, January 3. The charges were filed in circuit court records.

A probable cause statement from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office said that in August, the owner of Frazier Energy, LLC, sent a check to a business that they use for work. The check was thought to have been lost in the mail, though, because it never got to where it was supposed to go.

Investigators found that the same check for $9,641 had been “washed” and put into McCormick’s bank account in September. She was wanted for arrest on Friday, and a $2,500 bond was set.

But as of Wednesday, January 8, McCormick does not seem to be in jail in either Missouri or North Carolina. No new information has been made public.
