Who Can Get New Stimulus Checks in January 2025? Dates of Payment Announced

Today, Both Bank of America and Wells Fargo Will Be Closed. To Find Out More, Check the Exact Days

Aiexpress – Millions will assemble on December 31 to welcome the new year and say goodbye to the previous one. As the end of the year has finally arrived, millions of Americans will stay today in their houses, enjoying time with family. However, what about private establishments such as the Bank of America? Are they going to shut down too? Since many customers would like to know more about banking operating hours, we would share here the most important information you need to consider for this holiday. Because of its importance, New Year’s Day is one of the eleven federal holidays observed in the US. Government offices and public institutions will be closed on this holiday.

Bank of America and Wells Fargo just confirmed they will close their offices

On federal holidays, only government agencies are legally obligated to close. Nonetheless, the majority of banks decide to close as well, coordinating their operations with the Federal Reserve’s holiday calendar. This means that on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, all of the big banks, including Citi, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America, will be closed. Banks will be open as usual on Tuesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve, but they are anticipated to close early.

By 4:00 p.m. local time, the majority of branches would close, according to financial services provider PNC. Thankfully, ATMs and mobile banking will continue to function normally on both days. Consumers can still use their mobile devices to conveniently handle necessary operations like bill payments and money transfers. They will open again during regular business hours on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Be sure to call your local credit union where you bank to find out their hours today.

Will UPS and FedEx be open during this holiday?

On New Year’s Eve, December 26, UPS will deliver only Air and International Air packages that were scheduled for delivery. UPS Next Day Air shipments picked up today will be delivered on January 2, the day after the new year. UPS Critical Delivery service will be available on New Year’s Day, but UPS will not be picking up or delivering parcels. According to FedEx’s website, pickup and delivery services will be offered today; however, certain locations might close early. FedEx Express and Freight will have modified service today, but FedEx Express, Ground, and Home Delivery will continue to operate as usual.

Bank of America and Citigroup will exit the climate change banking alliance

Citigroup and Bank of America, two U.S. banks, announced on Tuesday that they are leaving the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), a worldwide banking alliance that has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. They come after Goldman Sachs and Wells Fargo, both of which departed the coalition earlier this month. Following previous criticism for their connections to the fossil fuel industry, financial firms have made an effort to incorporate net-zero criteria more thoroughly into their operations.

But to avoid upsetting Republican lawmakers who are against restricting the funding of fossil fuels, they have started to scale back some of their goals. Citi and Bank of America declared that they had achieved progress toward their net-zero goals when they announced their intention to leave the NZBA. The NZBA aims to achieve zero net carbon emissions from the loan and investment portfolios of its members by 2050.

Moreover, ten Republican-led states, including Texas, filed a lawsuit against BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street last month, alleging that the big asset managers had broken antitrust laws by engaging in climate activism that decreased coal production and raised energy prices. While Bank of America and Citigroup have made great progress toward reducing carbon emissions, this new move highlights their position besides Republican lawmakers and gives a new focus to economic corners instead of only prioritizing net zero goals.
