1 Dead, 3 Juveniles And 2 Adults Hurt In North Carolina Crash On Interstate 40 West

Aiexpress – According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a tragic crash on Interstate 40 resulted in the loss of one life and left several juveniles injured.

Troopers responded to a report of a fatal crash at Mile Marker 156 on I-40 West at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Justin Devon Wilson, a 34-year-old resident of Hickory, was behind the wheel of a 2004 Subaru Forester when he collided with a car hauler trailer being towed by a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500.

According to troopers, the Dodge ran out of gas and pulled into the median. However, the trailer was still partly in the travel lanes, resulting in a collision between the Subaru and a 2023 Toyota RAV4 that was also traveling on I-40 West.

EMS transported the driver of the Toyota and a passenger to a local hospital for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, the Dodge driver escaped the crash unharmed.

EMS also took the driver of the Toyota and a passenger to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the Dodge wasn’t hurt in the accident.

The investigators have determined that the crash was not caused by excessive speed or impairment, and all individuals involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts. It is possible that charges may be filed once the investigation is complete and after consulting with the Iredell County District Attorney’s Office.
