Identity Of Skeletal Remains Found In Saugus Confirmed To Be Haverhill Father Missing Since July

Aiexpress – Officials have identified the remains discovered in a wooded area in Saugus on Sunday, February 18, as those of a 53-year-old Haverhill father who went missing in July.

According to the Essex County District Attorney, a person walking their dog near David Drive discovered John Lawler’s remains in a wooded area.

According to accounts, Lawler was last heard in July, when he left the Salvation Army recovery center on Broadway in Saugus to buy fishing equipment.

Lawler was a lifelong Haverhill resident and an ardent angler.

According to the entry in the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Lawler embarked on his fishing excursion, leaving behind all his belongings, including his cell phone. The entry highlights Lawler’s physical fitness, mentioning his regular activities such as cycling and working out at the nearby gym. It states that the last sighting of Lawler was when he was seen walking towards Route 1, carrying his fishing rod.
