2 Georgia Correctional Officers And 4 Others Face Charges For Contraband Attempts

Aiexpress – A number of illegal activities have taken place in several Georgia state prisons, resulting in charges being filed against six individuals, including two correctional officers.

On February 9, officials from the Georgia Department of Corrections reported that security personnel at Dodge State Prison noticed a suspicious individual near the facility. Acting swiftly, the GDC Canine Unit was deployed and successfully located the suspect, who has been identified as Civilian Darryl James.

Officials reported that after conducting a search, they uncovered a substantial amount of contraband. The findings included a DJI 600 drone, 59 grams of ecstasy, 212 grams of marijuana, 7,059 grams of tobacco, 1 master lock with a key, and 42 packs of rolling paper.

According to officials, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a civilian named James. James has been booked at the Dodge County Jail.

At Rogers State Prison on February 12th, the authorities at the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) noticed a suspicious individual near the facility. Prompted by their observation, a thorough search of the area was conducted, leading to the discovery of two plastic bags filled with a significant amount of contraband.

According to a press release, authorities found various items during the search, which included 130 bundles shaped like eggs and wrapped in black electrical tape, 11 bundles covered in white paint, 4 bundles wrapped in blue tape, and a roll of snuff cans.

GDC officials have confirmed that Zhykeem Anderson has been arrested and is currently being held at Tatnall County Jail.

During their routine patrols, the Milledgeville Police Department noticed a suspicious individual near Baldwin State Prison on February 4th, which marked the third contraband incident at the GDC.

Officials discovered a truck with a suspect inside during their investigation. The GDC K-9 unit uncovered a second suspect hiding in the wood line, along with various contraband items including slides, shirts, socks, a skullcap, a wrench, vapes, lighters, charging cables, charging blocks, earbuds, super glue, D3 gummy vitamins, 1,255 grams of tobacco, and 3.6 grams of marijuana. Both suspects were apprehended and taken to Milledgeville PD.

A troubling incident occurred at Wilcox State Prison on February 8th, as officials discovered contraband during a routine search of Correctional Officer Robert Altman. Upon inspection, four packages wrapped in grey electrical duct tape were found concealed within his food. The packages contained a total of 242 grams of marijuana. Promptly informed, Abbeville Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

On February 9, at Smith State Prison, officials discovered a controlled substance, believed to be marijuana, in the possession of Correctional Officer Shaniya Odom. The incident occurred during an attempt to clear the front entry. Odom has been charged, and an investigation is currently underway.
