Germany Allows For The Consumption Of Cannabis Under Certain Conditions

Aiexpress – On February 23, the German legislature made a significant move by passing a measure that legalizes cannabis for adults. However, there is a catch – the sale of cannabis will be restricted to specific cannabis clubs. This groundbreaking legislation received overwhelming support in the Bundestag, with a vote of 407-226.

Adults will be permitted to smoke cannabis in certain public spaces under the new law, however, it will be prohibited in locations such as playgrounds.

Adults will have the freedom to carry up to 25g of cannabis in public and up to 50g in the privacy of their own homes. Furthermore, they will be permitted to cultivate up to three cannabis plants within the confines of their private residences.

The original plan for legalization included commercial distribution of cannabis. However, this approach has been replaced with a “cannabis social club” model. Under this model, individuals who want to legally purchase cannabis will need to join clubs, which will be limited to 500 members.

German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has issued a warning about the potential risks associated with marijuana, despite its recent legalization for adults.

Lauterbach emphasized the importance of understanding the true nature of the cannabis legalization law: while consumption is now legal, it is crucial to acknowledge the potential dangers associated with it.

Lauterbach, a staunch advocate for the legislation, aims to “crack down on the black market and drugs-related crime” with this objective in mind.
