Aiexpress – William Barrett has been detained and charged with the murder of Romaine Maddox, 36, who was discovered dead inside the Ivy City Hotel on Friday morning, according to officials.
Both Barrett and Maddox hail from Northeast DC, indicating a potential preexisting acquaintance between the two.
At around 11:20 a.m. on Feb. 23, officers were dispatched to a motel in the 1600 block of New York Avenue NE to investigate complaints of an unresponsive person.

Last year, a random attack took place at the same hotel, resulting in the tragic death of a beloved 31-year-old woman.
When they arrived, they discovered Maddox suffering from body injuries and proclaimed her dead.
The authorities identified Barrett as a suspect and apprehended him on Friday, charging him with first-degree murder. The police have not disclosed any motive for the tragic incident.
