Mother And Friend Are Accused Of Capital Murder After A 1-year-old Dies

Aiexpress – Authorities arrested a 32-year-old mother and her 29-year-old cohabitant after the terrible discovery of a murdered newborn in their home earlier this week.

According to an Opelika Police Department press release, officers responded to a distress call on Tuesday, Feb. 20, just after midnight, in the 200 block of 24th Street involving an unresponsive 1-year-old boy. The boy, identified as Ezekiel Narville by AL.com, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Following investigations, authorities identified the child’s mother, Dorothy Hight, and her companion, Seth Kendrick, as the prime suspects in the infant’s death. Both individuals were arrested and charged with capital murder.

The Alabama Department of Forensic Science will carry out an autopsy to identify the cause of death. However, Opelika Police Capt. John Hester stated that the child had apparent bodily injuries.

Hester expressed the sensitivity of the situation, saying, “We take all homicides seriously, but when it’s a child, it’s harder. The majority of us have children, making these circumstances more difficult to cope with. It takes its toll.”

Kendrick and Hight are still being held in the Lee County Jail as the investigation proceeds.
