Aiexpress – Kenneth Mitchell, a talented actor renowned for his memorable performances in “Star Trek: Discovery,” passed away at the age of 49 due to complications related to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as announced by his family on Sunday.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, a cherished father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend to many,” expressed his family through a heartfelt statement shared on X.

Mitchell, a renowned actor, showcased his talent by portraying various alien Klingon characters in the iconic series Star Trek. Throughout his illustrious career, he left an indelible mark on the science fiction genre, making appearances in notable projects such as the post-apocalyptic TV drama Jericho. Recently, Mitchell graced the screen in the highly acclaimed film Captain Marvel.

In 2020, the actor shared with People that he had been diagnosed with ALS in 2018. Since 2019, he has been using a wheelchair due to the physical function loss caused by the neurodegenerative disease.

Ken faced a series of daunting challenges from ALS for five and a half years. However, true to his character, he managed to overcome each one with grace and a steadfast commitment to living life to the fullest in every single moment.
