Aiexpress – Former Senator Heidi Heitkamp may face legal action after claiming a Republican congressman impregnated a young staffer.
During an episode of the “Talking Feds” podcast broadcast on Monday, the North Dakota Democrat floated a scandalous “rumor” about Republican Rep. Matt Rosendale, who just suspended his candidacy for US Senate in Montana.
“Just to gossip a little bit, there’s a reason why Rosendale backed out of that Senate race,” Heitkamp told reporters. “The rumor is that he impregnated a 20-year-old staff person.”
She further prophesied that Rosendale would soon retire from Congress due to the reported event.
“Just a little gossip; I think their caucus may lose a member in the next several days,” Heitkamp remarked of House Republicans. “”Might be the congressman from Montana.”
Rosendale, one of eight Republicans who voted to remove former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, ended his Senate race less than a week after former President Donald Trump endorsed his primary opponent, Tim Sheehy.
It’s uncertain whether Rosendale will run for reelection to his House seat.
Rosendale spokesman Ron Kovach denied the accusation and hinted at legal action against the former senator, who currently directs the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics.
“This is 100% false and defamatory, and former Sen. Heitkamp will be hearing from our lawyers soon,” Kovach added.
Representatives for Heitkamp did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
