Aiexpress – Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley highlighted the fact that despite her double-digit losses to Donald Trump, the former president’s inability to secure more than 60% of the vote in the contested races should serve as a warning sign.
During a press briefing on the campaign trail the day before Michigan’s Republican primary, she pointed out that Donald Trump, as the Republican incumbent, did not secure 40% of the vote. She emphasized that this indicates a significant shift that has been occurring for some time.
Haley has been emphasizing a recurring argument lately, which she reiterated during a recent event in Troy, Michigan. Despite not having won a state in the Republican presidential nomination race and facing a seemingly insurmountable challenge in catching up to Trump, Haley believes that a significant portion of conservative voters are expressing their desire for an alternative candidate. According to her, these voters deserve to have an alternative option.
After losing her home state of South Carolina, she expressed, “I understand that 40% is not the same as 50%, but it’s important to recognize that 40% is still a significant portion.”
During her speech, Haley emphasized the importance of the upcoming 10 days, where 21 states and territories will have the opportunity to voice their opinions. She firmly stated that these regions deserve a genuine choice, rejecting any notion of a one-candidate, Soviet-style election. Haley took on the responsibility of providing them with this choice, as she believes that the country cannot endure another four years of President Joe Biden’s failures or former President Trump’s lack of focus.
Haley attributed the GOP’s difficulties in winning crucial state races in recent cycles to Trump during her speech in Michigan on Monday.
“The Republican Party is facing a deep division, and this is not limited to Michigan alone. This division is evident throughout the entire country,” stated the speaker.
According to her, acknowledging the 40% of Republicans who do not support Donald Trump is crucial to winning a general election.
“I am doing everything in my power to raise the alarm about the current trajectory of our country,” Haley expressed to reporters. “What I really hope for is that people will pay attention and take action. In South Carolina, Trump received the highest share of votes in any contested nominating race this year, with 60% of the vote. (He achieved 74% in the U.S. Virgin Islands caucuses.)
Haley secured a minimum of 40% of the votes in both the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries.
Despite her commitment to staying in the race, Trump is increasingly directing her attention towards a potential rematch against Biden in the general election. This shift in focus comes as no surprise, considering Trump’s previous experience of triumphing in a tough 2016 primary battle to secure the presidency.

When asked on Monday if she could identify a state where she could emerge victorious in the nominating race, Haley chose not to give a direct answer. Instead, she responded with a teasing remark, saying: “Wait and see.”
