Teenager Detained For Fatal Shooting Of Kelvi Mccray In West Palm Beach While Victim Was On Facetime

West Palm Beach residents are horrified and in mourning following a tragic course of events that culminated in a fatal shooting. The event occurred on Wednesday night, when a young woman named Kelvi McCray was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend while she was on FaceTime with three other people.

According to the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD), the horrifying events began when one of the witnesses claimed seeing McCray getting shot in the back and head while on FaceTime, as stated in the probable cause affidavit. The witness later identified the suspect, 19-year-old Keisean Shaw, using a photo lineup.

Shaw, who was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, was unable to appear in court on Thursday due to his hospitalization. Officers located him in the same apartment where McCray was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The tragic incident was discovered following a 911 call reporting a shooting on West 13th Street, near Gaines Park, off North Australian Avenue. Responding officers soon found the suspect and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite attempts to revive her, McCray was pronounced dead around 30 minutes later.

The police investigation revealed disturbing details about the victim’s relationship with the suspect. McCray’s estranged partner, Shaw, was still living with her at the time of the incident. Detectives determined that Keisean Shaw had not taken the separation well, allegedly threatening Kelvi McCray with a gun just days before.
