Black voters are flooding Trump and cannot “afford” to support Biden in 2024, Reverend says

One reverend said that black Americans can no longer “afford” to vote for President Biden, noting his record on the economy and the border situation as he faces losing popularity in the critical voting demographic heading into November.

During an appearance on “Fox News @ Night,” Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson accused the Democratic Party of abandoning black people, claiming that more voters who would not have previously supported him are now considering voting for the 45th president.

“Even if I was black enough, I couldn’t afford to vote for Joe Biden this time, and I hear it’s all over, everywhere I go,” Peterson told anchor Trace Gallagher on Monday. “Blacks have historically been loyal to the Democratic Party.” That is no longer the case since Democrats have obviously pushed black people to the sidelines and are no longer looking out for them.

“They just want the vote, and so black people are starting to feel the economic crisis,” he went on to say.

One black Biden supporter recently told BET that he is thinking about voting for former President Trump for the first time because of the situation of the economy.

“Right now, I couldn’t tell you that if the polls opened tomorrow, I’d vote for Joe Biden,” the Georgia barber told CBS News’ Nikole Killion.

“The way that these last three or four years have been, this is the worst it’s ever been in my life.”

A New York Times/Siena survey released earlier this month has some liberal analysts concerned that Biden is losing black voters, a historically Democratic voting demographic, to Trump.

According to the latest figures, 23% of black voters support President Trump as of February 2024. That figure represents a significant boost from his black support in October 2020, which stood at 4%.

Peterson blamed the critical move on Biden’s immigration and economic policies.

He claimed that while illegal immigrants continue to stream across the porous borders, migrant crime has the greatest impact on black communities.

“It’s the economy; it’s the borders,” Peterson explained. “Many aliens are settling in black communities and schools, which is not widely discussed. The gang violence among black gangs, Hispanic gangs, and new gangs is out of control.”

According to a January USA Today/Suffolk University poll, Biden’s favor among black voters has dropped to 63%, down from 92% in 2020, according to Pew Research Center data. His support among Hispanic voters has dropped from 59% to 34%.

Peterson contended that black voters lack representation because politicians are solely concerned with their own interests—money and power.

As a result, voters were “wiped out” under Biden’s leadership and could not afford to vote for him, he claimed.

“I never thought my own family members would vote for Donald Trump. They are now saying yes to Trump. It truly began with Obama. Many blacks believed that Obama would do more for them, yet he did not secure jobs. He failed to provide for them, and under Joe Biden, they were wiped off.

“They cannot afford to vote for Joe Biden anymore,” he said.
