Missouri prosecutors announced on Thursday that two additional individuals, including a 15-year-old boy, have been charged in relation to the tragic shooting incident that occurred during the celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory. This incident took place amidst a massive crowd of approximately one million people.
A teenager has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action and is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center. The Office of the Juvenile Officer in Missouri judicial court’s family court division has stated that a certification hearing will be conducted to determine if the teenager should be tried as an adult.
Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced on Thursday that Terry Young, a 20-year-old man, has been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action.
“This case has been particularly challenging for us,” Bakers remarked, acknowledging the significant impact of last month’s shooting and the extensive police investigation involved.
According to her, law enforcement has apprehended all individuals responsible for firing shots in the incident. However, there may be additional charges forthcoming. Previous reports indicated that a total of 12 individuals were seen with firearms during the shooting, with at least six of them discharging their weapons.
Authorities previously announced that murder charges had been filed against two men, while two other juveniles were detained on charges related to firearms and resisting arrest.
Federal officials are also heavily focused on the Super Bowl parade shooting as they diligently work to trace every firearm discharged during the chaotic incident. According to federal authorities, numerous guns were discovered on the ground following the shooting, leading to the charging of three individuals with federal firearms counts due to their involvement with the unlawful weapons used in the incident.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Young was captured on surveillance video firing multiple shots following an altercation in which someone brandished a gun.
Dominic M. Miller, 18, and Lyndell Mays, 23, faced charges shortly after the shooting. The charges against them include second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.
According to Kansas City police detective Grant Spiking, one witness reported that a confrontation occurred between Mays, another individual, and a group of people. The argument was sparked by their intense staring at each other. In a probable cause statement, it was revealed that Mays admitted to being the first to shoot, firing two shots. Detective Spiking also noted that Mays acknowledged the inappropriate action of pulling out a gun.
In Missouri, second-degree murder carries a punishment ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment. Prosecutors have asked for Young to be held on a cash bond of $1 million.
No attorney was listed for him in the court records.
Federal prosecutors probe guns used in shooting
Federal prosecutors are currently investigating the source of the firearms used in last month’s assault in Missouri. As authorities continue to bring charges against the attackers, three individuals from Missouri have already been charged in U.S. District Court. These charges are related to illegal firearms trafficking and straw purchases involving two weapons that were connected to the parade shooting.
“Preventing illegal firearms trafficking and stopping straw buyers is crucial in our efforts to combat gun violence,” emphasized U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore.
According to court documents, officers discovered a firearm during the shootout that was purchased by 22-year-old Fedo Antonia Manning from Frontier Justice in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in 2022. The gun had been illegally trafficked on the black market. Officials noted that based on its condition, the firearm could have been fired multiple times before it was abandoned.
According to court documents, Manning is accused of trafficking numerous firearms. Law enforcement officers seized 15 guns that he had previously purchased, and it was discovered that these firearms were in the possession of other individuals. Shockingly, some of these individuals were legally prohibited from owning firearms.
Authorities recovered a Stag Arms 300-caliber pistol following the shooting incident, which was purchased at a gun show in Kansas City in November.
According to court documents, 21-year-old Ronnel Dewayne Williams, Jr. is accused of purchasing a firearm on behalf of 19-year-old Chaelyn Hendrick Groves. Groves accompanied Williams to the gun show, but was unable to legally purchase the firearm due to his age.
According to the gun control advocacy and research group Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, Missouri is known for having some of the most relaxed gun control measures in the United States. Giffords reports that since 2017, individuals in Missouri have been legally allowed to carry concealed, loaded firearms without the need for a permit or background check.
