Eric Adams Successfully Blocks Texas Bus Company From Transporting More Immigrants With $700 Million Lawsuit

A Texas bus company has agreed to stop transporting immigrants to New York City following a lawsuit filed by Mayor Eric Adams.

On Wednesday, Roadrunner Charters signed a stipulation letter agreeing to stop delivering immigrants to New York City. The firm was one of the driving forces behind Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R-TX) plan to send immigrants to Democratic-controlled cities.

“The Defendant Roadrunner Charters Inc. will refrain forthwith from transporting individuals known as migrants from Texas to New York City and/or from Texas to the vicinity of New York City,” the letter, which was obtained by Politico, stated.

The New York City Department of Social Services has sued 17 corporations, including Roadrunner Charters, for $708 million in damages. It claims that the firms broke a state statute that requires anyone who brings a person to New York to become reliant on state aid to either relocate them to another state or provide for them.

Adams praised the decision in a statement, urging all other bus operators engaging in the effort to follow Roadrunner Charters’ lead.

“I am pleased to see that Roadrunner—oone of the bus companies we sued for taking part in Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s scheme to transport tens of thousands of migrants to our city in an attempt to overwhelm our shelter system and shift costs to New York City—hhas agreed to halt the bussing of migrants into and around New York City while the lawsuit proceeds,” Adams said in a statement obtained by Fox News. “We call on all other bus companies involved in this suit to do the same.”
