Police arrest noncitizen for using counterfeit ID during attempted burglary in Eastchester

On Tuesday, March 26, authorities announced that the Eastchester Police had arrested a suspect on Wednesday, March 20. The suspect, who is a noncitizen Colombian national, had been using fraudulent identification under an assumed identity.

According to the police, the suspect was previously apprehended on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023. The arrest was made in connection with two counts of second-degree attempted burglary. The incident occurred in the Leewood Park neighborhood of Eastchester, where the suspect broke into a residence.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took the suspect into custody after charging him with first-degree falsifying burglary records. He was found to be in possession of a New York driver’s license under another person’s name.

ICE officials have stated that the suspect was deported from the US to Colombia in November 2020. However, he managed to unlawfully reenter the country at an undisclosed time, according to officials.

In February 2024, federal officials confirmed that the suspect was identified as a member of a transnational organized criminal enterprise by Enforcement and Removal Operations New York City’s Newburgh Fugitive Operations Team.

To achieve this, we will employ all available resources to locate and apprehend these noncitizens, initiating removal proceedings,” emphasized Kenneth Genalo, the Field Office Director of ERO New York City.
