The Mega Millions jackpot announced a winner in Tuesday night’s projected $1.13 billion drawing, after 30 consecutive draws without a winner.
The winning numbers on Tuesday night were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and gold Mega Ball 4. The Megaplier was used twice.
New Jersey sold the winning lottery ticket. This was the fifth-largest reward in Mega Millions history, according to a news release.
In addition to the jackpot, 12 players—oone from California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, and two from Florida, Georgia, and New York—mmatched all five white balls to win $1 million, while another from New York matched all five white balls and the Megaplier to win $3 million.
“Lottery fever continues to spread throughout the country,” Georgia Lottery President and CEO Gretchen Corbin, lead director of the Mega Millions Consortium, stated prior to Tuesday’s drawing.
The $1.13 billion grand prize includes a cash payoff option of $537.5 million.
Winners typically choose the cash reward over the Mega Millions annuity, which pays out in 29 monthly installments after one lump sum.
The chances of winning the grand prize are one in 302,575,350, according to the game.
Two Californians won the Mega Millions jackpot on December 8, matching all six numbers to collect $395 million, prior to Tuesday’s drawing.
Florida won a record-breaking $1.602 billion jackpot on August 8, 2023. A single ticket won the world’s greatest lottery prize ever.
Players will compete for the anticipated $20 million grand prize, which includes a $9.5 million cash option, in the next drawing on Friday.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, including Washington, D.C., and the Virgin Islands. On draw nights, the ticket purchase deadline is 9:45 p.m.
On Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Eastern Time, drawings take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
