A Retired Cop Shot A Man Carrying A Machete During A Road Rage Incident On Staten Island: Sources

A retired NYPD officer shot and wounded a guy who threatened him with a machete during a broad daylight road rage incident on Staten Island on Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials.

Following a traffic mishap on Vineland Avenue near Grantwood Avenue in Annadale, a 45-year-old man holding a blade confronted the 50-year-old former cop just before 9:30 a.m., according to investigators and sources.

In retaliation, the ex-officer pulled out a revolver and shot the victim in the chest on the tree-lined residential block, according to police.

Staten Island University Hospital received the injured man and reported him as stable.

No one faced immediate charges, and the gunman remained on the scene.
