Colbert tees up Joe Biden for Trump golfing at NYC fundraiser

During a recent episode of his show, comedian Stephen Colbert playfully poked fun at President Biden’s predecessor, former President Trump. Colbert made a witty remark about Trump’s golf game and his limited number of campaign events. The lighthearted jab added some humor to the conversation.

During a fundraiser in New York City, Colbert highlighted the president’s hectic travel schedule in recent weeks. He amusingly remarked, “Donald Trump, from what we can gather, seems to be focused on securing a third championship at his own golf course.”

Colbert posed a question to the presidential candidate, asking if voters could trust someone who hadn’t won a single Trump International Golf Club trophy. In a humorous tone, Colbert concluded by asking, “Sir, have you no chip shot?”

“I actually offered to play golf with him once before when he visited the Oval Office before his inauguration,” Biden recalled. “I jokingly told him that I would give him three strokes if he carried his own golf bag.”

Former Presidents Obama and Clinton joined Biden and Colbert on stage at the event, which raised over $26 million for Biden’s reelection campaign.

This week, Trump proudly announced that he had won two golf trophies at his golf club. Biden couldn’t resist poking fun at him for his boasting.

“Donald, congratulations on this incredible achievement,” Biden wrote on X.

Biden’s campaign recently launched an advertisement that criticizes Trump for his infrequent campaign events and his passion for golf. The ad features footage of Biden engaging with people in various states, taking selfies, and delivering speeches. In contrast, it shows clips of Trump enjoying his time on the golf course, swinging a club, and driving a golf cart.

In March, the president made visits to eight swing states, increasing his travel activities after his State of the Union address. On Tuesday, Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in the battleground state of Wisconsin. This will be his second rally as the presumptive GOP nominee.
