Pennsylvania Designates Hershey’s Kisses as the Official State Candy

On Tuesday, March 26, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives enacted legislation recognizing chocolate as the state’s official candy.

A group of Council Rock School District students working on a civics class project inspired the legislation, according to 6ABC.

“Hershey’s Kisses are one of the most iconic chocolate products ever created by Hershey’s and one of the most recognized and beloved chocolate products around the world,” according to the law.

The legislation states that Hershey, Pennsylvania, produces more than 70 million Kisses daily.

“Hershey’s supports many aspects of this Commonwealth’s economy, including supporting this Commonwealth’s proud dairy industry for more than 125 years through the company’s use of fresh dairy milk that surrounds the company’s chocolate factories,” lawmakers said in a statement.
