Swalwell, a House member who has been a vocal critic of Trump for a long time, strongly condemned Trump’s rhetoric on Truth Social, a social media platform. Swalwell also criticized Trump for his incessant attacks on judges and individuals involved in his civil and criminal cases.
During his appearance on MSNBC “The Weekend,” the California Democrat expressed his belief that the United States remains a heavily armed nation. He highlighted the fact that individuals with malicious intent often have access to the most dangerous weapons in the country.
In recent days, Trump has been launching relentless attacks on judges, causing Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over his hush money case, to implement a gag order.
Swalwell expressed deep concern for the safety of both election workers and investigators who are responsible for addressing the threats made against these individuals.
“And it really worries me that the Department of Justice, which is responsible for investigating these threats, is overwhelmed because even the investigators themselves are being targeted,” he expressed his concern. “So the very people who should be investigating those who threaten elected officials or poll workers, such as FBI officials and U.S. attorneys, are also facing threats themselves.”
On Saturday, he expressed his concerns about the attempt to overwhelm the system, stating, “So this is just an attempt to overwhelm the system, and that makes me very nervous seven months out.”
