Authorities in a Tennessee community are looking into the intentional burning of a trailer full of Bibles in front of a church on Easter Sunday.
Around 6 a.m. on Sunday, the Mount Juliet Police Department and Fire Department responded quickly to a trailer fire near an intersection that was blocking the entry to the Global Vision Church.
Greg Locke, the church’s pastor, stated in a Facebook post that the church’s security cameras captured a guy purportedly dumping off the trailer before burning it on fire.
“There was a lady that had driven through the night to get to our church, and she was in the parking lot and was able to get the police officers here quickly, but it was quite the scene to wake up to on my first morning back from Israel,” said the pastor.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office also expressed their suspicion that someone intentionally started the fire.
Hundreds took to social media to voice their support for the church, which was able to hold Easter services without interruption.
“The wickedness out there is terrifying. We are grateful that no one was injured or the church was damaged.” May our Lord touch the heart of the person who did this,” one user commented.
“God knows the next step. Jesus is alive and accomplishing great things. Prayers for that individual and for the church. Onward, Christian Soldiers,” another user said.
The enemy has awakened and realized that his time is limited, but we remain unshaken. One comment was read.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office stated that it’s unclear whether the fire was intended at the church.
We cannot release additional specifics at this time to maintain the integrity of the ongoing inquiry. The sheriff’s office assured the community that they will provide additional details at the appropriate time.
Officials reported that no injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
