Oklahoma women missing under suspicious circumstances, search underway

Authorities are investigating the disappearance of two ladies in western Oklahoma. They were last seen together in a vehicle, which was later discovered abandoned in a remote area along the highway. Police claimed 27-year-old Veronica Butler and 39-year-old Jilian Kelley went missing under “suspicious” conditions.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation revealed its involvement in the investigation on Sunday at the request of the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, which has jurisdiction over the isolated area of the Oklahoma panhandle where the woman’s car was found.

On Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol issued an Endangered Missing Advisory for Butler and Kelley on behalf of the Sheriff’s Department. Despite the lack of public information about the events leading up to their disappearance, the notice classified both ladies as “at-risk.”

Butler and Kelley were “traveling to pick up children” when they disappeared, according to the missing persons alert, which stated that neither “made it to the pick-up location.” Their car was discovered abandoned on the side of the road near Oklahoma State Highway 95, just south of Elkhart, Kansas, and directly across the border with Oklahoma.

The Highway Patrol issued pictures of Butler and Kelley, as well as written descriptions of the ladies. Butler is 5 feet 4 inches tall, has red hair and green eyes, and was wearing a blue short-sleeved blouse, denim shorts, and Hey Dude shoes when she went missing, according to the warning. She also has other tattoos, including a Chinese sign on her left forearm and a sunflower on her left shoulder.

State detectives said they are collaborating with local law enforcement agencies to locate Butler and Kelley. They have asked anyone with knowledge of the women’s whereabouts to contact the bureau.
