John Eastman Addresses Disbarment Request, Reveals Subpoena From Capitol Police

John Eastman, the former attorney for President Trump, has responded to a California judge’s call for his disbarment by downplaying the situation. He remains confident in his chances of success on appeal. Additionally, Eastman has revealed that he has been subpoenaed in a separate lawsuit connected to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

The judge advised that Eastman, who played a central role in the attempts to overturn the 2020 election, should be disbarred as a result of his “false and misleading statements” regarding alleged election fraud and his involvement in inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection.

During an interview on conservative network Frank Speech on Thursday, Eastman expressed that there is still a significant amount of progress that needs to be made before his case is heard by the state Supreme Court.

“He said that if the law had been diligently followed, this case would never have been brought in the first place.”

“We had a disagreement regarding the facts surrounding the 2020 election. There was also a difference in our interpretation of the constitution when it came to unresolved matters,” Eastman explained. “However, it is important to note that such disagreements have never been grounds for disciplinary action.”

In a ruling by State Bar Judge Yvette Roland, Eastman has been found guilty of 10 out of the 11 charges brought against him.

The court has recommended that Eastman be disbarred due to the circumstances surrounding his misconduct. In a 128-page decision, the judge stated, “In view of the circumstances surrounding Eastman’s misconduct and balancing the aggravation and mitigation, the court recommends that Eastman be disbarred.”

Currently, Eastman is unable to practice law in California as his case is being appealed.

During the interview on Thursday, he contended that the disbarment is politically motivated and has the intention of undermining our adversarial system of justice.

In addition, he mentioned that he received a subpoena in relation to a civil lawsuit filed by a collective of Capitol Police officers against Trump. These officers assert that Trump bears responsibility for the events of January 6th, and they aim to secure monetary damages for the harm they endured during the riots.

“I was served a subpoena last week by the Capitol Police officers. They are seeking all of my communications with the president and anyone else,” he revealed. “It’s been quite a blow to attorney-client privilege.”

In Special Counsel Jack Smith’s criminal case against Trump regarding the Capitol attack, Eastman continues to hold significant influence. He vehemently opposes the prosecution, claiming it is politically motivated, a sentiment shared by Trump himself.

“We seem to have lost sight of the importance of seeking the truth in criminal matters. Instead, the focus has shifted towards political games and targeting opponents,” he expressed. “It appears that anything that can further their agenda against Trump is fair game.”

“That’s just how the game works,” he added. “They want to keep us distracted, using up our valuable resources to defend against these distractions. But that means we can’t use those resources and talents to make progress and help elect leaders who have the best interests of our country at heart.”
