Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s (D) invitation to stay at a migrant shelter in New York during his visit to the Big Apple, dismissing it as a mere “gimmick” in a recent interview on Thursday.
During an interview on Fox News’s “Hannity” on Thursday, Abbott dismissed the invitation as nothing more than a gimmick.
Abbott urged the mayor of New York to take action and address the pressing issue at hand. He emphasized the urgency by stating that people are losing their lives under his watch. He highlighted the alarming fact that law enforcement officers are being targeted by individuals with a history of multiple arrests. Abbott called upon the mayor to assume responsibility and ensure that dangerous criminals, who pose a threat to the lives of fellow New Yorkers, are kept in custody.
Abbott may have been talking about Jonathan Diller, an NYPD officer who tragically lost his life during a routine traffic stop. The suspect involved in the incident had a lengthy criminal record, with 21 reported arrests, nine of which were for felonies. Shockingly, this individual had been released from prison in September 2021 after serving almost five years.
