Sebastian Rogers’ father choked up with emotion when he stated that his son had informed him he didn’t want to go home to his mother’s house shortly before disappearing.
Forty days into the search for missing autistic adolescent Sebastian Rogers in Tennessee, Seth Rogers spoke with Nancy Grace on Crime Stories.
Wiping away tears, he explained that, while the 15-year-old never showed signs of maltreatment, he did tell him he didn’t want to return to Hendersonville.
“I’ve asked him, ‘Why don’t you want to go back?'” Mr. Rogers informed the podcast host. “He wouldn’t tell me; he didn’t say why; he just said he didn’t want to go back.”
Sebastian was living with Katie Proudfoot and her husband, Chris Proudfoot, when he went missing overnight on February 25.
In an update earlier this week, investigators stated that there was no evidence of foul play in the boy’s absence and that all three parents had assisted with the search.
In an interview last month, the Proudfoots were asked about a report that the stepfather once struck Sebastian with a belt. Mr. Proudfoot stated that the incident occurred several years ago as a result of the youngster lying to him.
As part of the ongoing police investigation, Ms. Proudfoot stated that she had taken and passed a polygraph test, although Mr. Proudfoot had not.
“I have offered and volunteered to take a polygraph on numerous occasions, but I was told directly by law enforcement that because of my whereabouts, I did not need one,” Mr. Proudfoot said on March 25, referring to the fact that he was out of town when Sebastian went missing.
Nancy Grace asked whether he would complete one if she set it up for him, and he agreed.
However, the host post stated on Wednesday that this had yet to occur.
Mr. Rogers also told Ms. Grace that he had witnessed people attempting to halt the search for his son, including strangers following him and volunteers trying to frighten them. Others, in the in the meantime, have removed flyers with Sebastian’s face on them, he added.
“Somebody doesn’t want me to find my son,” he went on to say.
His remarks follow days after the non-profit United Cajun Navy informed The Independent that death threats against its members had forced it to conduct a private search.
Despite the fact that the search has been ongoing for more than a month, Mr. Rogers remains determined to locate and reunite with his 15-year-old son.
A new search is currently underway with police officers combing the regions surrounding the Proudfoots’ property, including local woodland and waterways.
“There are no significant events to report from the search efforts,” the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office stated on Thursday night.
“We, along with the many other agencies involved, remain committed to investigating this case.”
