According to Axios, if Donald Trump wins reelection this year, he intends to initiate federal investigations and indictments against Joe Biden and his family.
“Everything you have seen from the Biden Department of Justice, you can expect to see from the Trump DoJ,” a person who was “close to the Trump campaign” said in a statement.
Another “Trump ally” claimed that the present federal charges against Trump were sufficient precedent for Trump to prosecute Biden in turn.
Trump is very guaranteed to be the Republican nominee in November, and he consistently outperforms Biden in head-to-head polling. Trump is also performing well in critical swing states.
Trump now faces 44 federal criminal accusations, including 40 for retaining sensitive material and four for attempting to overthrow the 2020 election. His remaining 44 criminal accusations are at the state level, with 10 for election subversion in Georgia and 34 for hush money payments in New York.
Trump may drop the federal charges or pardon himself if re-elected. He couldn’t get rid of the state charges.
New York, Trump’s home state until he moved to Florida after leaving the White House, is also the source of multimillion-dollar penalties in two civil cases—one for tax fraud and one for defamation based on a rape claim that a judge deemed “substantially true.”
Despite such unprecedented legal peril in the New York hush-money case, which has resulted in a trial scheduled to begin next Monday, Trump walked to the Republican nomination to confront Biden again in November.
Investigators looked into Biden for keeping secret material while he was Barack Obama’s vice president. Unlike Trump, he cooperated with the authorities. Biden, unlike Trump, has not faced any charges.
Trump faced impeachment twice as president: once for using blackmail to obtain dirt on opponents, including Biden, and again for instigating the January 6 attack on Congress.
House Republicans have moved to impeach Biden for alleged wrongdoing involving his son, Hunter Biden, but the proceedings have devolved into farce in a series of tumultuous hearings.
Nonetheless, Mike Davis, a former legal adviser to Chuck Grassley, an Iowa senator who was embarrassed when a crucial source of claims against the Bidens was detained and tied to Russian intelligence, told Axios that the Bidens were guilty of “illegal foreign corruption.”.
“The Biden justice department will not do anything about it, so the Trump 47 justice department should,” Davis added, referring to Trump’s status as both the 47th and 45th president should he win re-election.
Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the top Democrat on the House oversight committee and a manager in Trump’s second impeachment, told Axios, “In saying that they are going to enable Donald Trump’s criminal vengeance campaign, [Republicans] are taking this from a farce to tragedy.”
