Man wrongly subpoenaed by Trump’s lawyers claims he has no relevant files

There are multiple Jeremy Rosenbergs in New York City, as former President Donald Trump’s attorneys discovered on Tuesday after sending a subpoena to the wrong person.

Last month, Trump’s lawyers in his criminal hush money case in Manhattan attempted to subpoena Jeremy Rosenberg, a supervising investigator in the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

According to court records released on Tuesday, the subpoena was issued to another Jeremy Rosenberg, who lives in an $8 million Brooklyn house.

Rosenberg wrote to defense attorney Todd Blanche, “I don’t have any files for you,” according to court filings.

Furthermore, Rosenberg added, “I’m keeping the fifteen dollars” Blanche had given him to cover the cost of shipping the necessary documents.

Prosecutors informed the judge that this was not the Jeremy Rosenberg that Trump’s legal team was seeking, following Blanche’s protests that Rosenberg was not cooperating.

“After receiving the defendant’s pre-motion letter, the People spoke with Mr. Rosenberg’s counsel, who informed the People that Mr. Rosenberg was not, in fact, served with the subpoena, that Mr. Rosenberg had not corresponded with defense counsel, and that Mr. Rosenberg does not have any connection to the Brooklyn address where the subpoena purportedly was served,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Trump is set to stand trial on April 15 after prosecutors allege he fabricated company documents in connection with a hush money payment made by his then-attorney Michael Cohen to adult film actress Stormy Daniels just days before the 2016 presidential election.

The former president has pleaded not guilty and denies any wrongdoing.
