Cruise Passenger Dies After Shuttle Bus Collision

According to authorities, a shuttle bus slammed into the transfer area outside a Honolulu cruise terminal on Friday, killing one woman and injuring ten others.

According to Carnival Cruise Line, the ship, Carnival Miracle, left Long Beach, California, on April 6 for a 15-day cruise. The vehicle struck nine cruise ship passengers.

“Sadly, one of our guests has died as a result of her injuries. She was traveling with her spouse, who was injured but is expected to recover. Members of the Carnival Care Team are helping the guests. Carnival Cruise Line told ABC News, “Our thoughts are with the affected guests and their loved ones.”

A 57-year-old guy was dropping off customers at Pier 2 when a passerby informed him that his vehicle was moving ahead. He then hopped into the driver’s seat, attempting to stop the vehicle, but unintentionally slammed the gas pedal rather than the brakes, colliding with two concrete barricades and eleven pedestrians, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Authorities carried five people to the hospital, pronounced one dead later, and found the other four in good condition. Six additional pedestrians declined treatment at the site, according to authorities.
