North Carolina Governor Says Biden Can Win State

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper (D) expressed his belief on Wednesday that President Biden has a strong chance of winning the state in the upcoming presidential election this year.

“I have confidence that President Biden has the potential to win North Carolina,” stated Cooper during his speech at Semafor’s World Economy Summit. “It is evident that the campaign shares this belief as they are actively investing and fully engaged in the state.”

Biden’s campaign is determined to win over the Tar Heel State in the upcoming presidential election, as it was previously won by former President Trump in both the 2020 and 2016 elections.

According to Cooper, President Biden’s defeat in 2020 was his narrowest margin of loss. He emphasized that North Carolina is the third fastest-growing state in the country. Cooper also noted that there is a significant influx of college-educated individuals relocating to North Carolina.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling average, Trump currently holds a 3.4 percentage point lead over Biden in North Carolina. Trump’s support stands at 48.3 percent, while Biden trails at 44.9 percent.

According to Dory MacMillan, the North Carolina communications director for the Biden campaign, there is a sense of optimism within the campaign.

According to MacMillan, North Carolinians are aware of the stark contrast between President Biden and Donald Trump. While Biden is dedicated to serving the people, Trump prioritizes the interests of billionaires, corporations, and an extreme agenda that negatively impacts both families and the economy.

“Our campaign is committed to reaching every corner of this state, ensuring that Trump’s attacks on our families are rejected and that we secure four more years of progress with President Biden.”

Cooper characterized the 2024 race as a “stark choice” between Biden and Trump in February.

“But do you want a president who wakes up every morning with the American people on their mind?” Cooper emphasized. “Or do you prefer a president who wakes up every morning solely focused on themselves? That is the clear choice we will face.”

In North Carolina this year, there is another highly anticipated race for Governor. The incumbent, Attorney General Josh Stein (D), will be challenged by the current Lieutenant Governor, Mark Robinson. This closely watched match-up has drawn significant attention and will culminate in the November election.
