Stephen A. Smith criticizes Trump hush money trial, expresses desire for him to lose fairly

In his comments on Thursday, Stephen A. Smith expressed his criticism of the hush money trial involving former President Trump. He voiced his desire to see Trump “lose the right way.”

As a Democratic voter, the sports commentator expressed his strong disapproval of Trump’s criminal trial, which began on Monday with the process of jury selection. He stated that he feels “utterly disgusted” with this trial, seeing it as an attempt by Democrats to politicize the courts due to their inability to halt the former president’s growing popularity in the polls.

In a recent interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Smith expressed his thoughts on the current strategy being employed by a certain group. According to Smith, their strategy doesn’t seem to be yielding the desired results. “It’s not working at all,” he stated. Despite his personal views on Donald Trump, Smith emphasized the importance of a fair and legitimate defeat. “I may not be a supporter of Trump, but I want him to lose in a proper manner,” he added.

“I hope for his defeat because you possess superior ideas and present your arguments to the American people more effectively than he does. That’s why I desire his loss,” he emphasized, referring to President Biden. “However, I do not wish for him to be defeated in the manner they are attempting to orchestrate.”

In a historic turn of events, President Trump found himself facing a criminal trial in Manhattan this week. This unprecedented situation marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has ever been put on trial.

The case claims that Trump engaged in illegal activity by falsifying business records. This occurred when he reimbursed his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, for the payment made to adult film actor Stormy Daniels in order to conceal an alleged affair prior to the 2016 presidential election.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Trump is currently leading Biden by 0.08 percent in national polling. A recent survey conducted in mid-March revealed that 44 percent of respondents stated that their vote would remain unchanged, even if Trump is convicted in the hush money trial.
