A College Student Disappears During A Night Out At Bars With Fraternity Brothers

Authorities are reporting that the family of a 22-year-old University of Missouri student is anxiously seeking information following his disappearance during a visit to Nashville.

Riley Strain, a resident of Nashville, was last spotted by friends at 9:52 p.m. on Friday. They had been enjoying drinks at a popular bar on Gay Street in the vibrant Broadway district, according to authorities from the Nashville police department.

According to his family, the group had traveled to Nashville for their fraternity formal.

According to Michelle Whiteid, the mother of the individual in question, her son was ecstatic to be out and about. He enthusiastically shared pictures of the various bars he and his fraternity brothers were visiting, clearly enjoying himself.

“He is such a lively and charismatic child,” she exclaimed.

According to police, detectives have thoroughly searched the streets, while a police helicopter in Nashville conducted a search in the downtown area, including the riverbank.

Police have released new video footage showing Strain at 9:47 p.m. on Friday.

Strain’s parents and stepparents have been in Nashville for days, providing assistance in the search.

“He’s a great young man. He came here with excitement, looking forward to a weekend filled with fun,” shared Ryan Gilbert, Strain’s father, in an interview with ABC News. “Our primary objective is to ensure his safe return back home.”

According to the University of Missouri, Strain is a senior who is majoring in business and interdisciplinary studies.

In a statement on Monday, the university mentioned that they have been in contact with the family and authorities in Nashville who are actively involved in the search for Strain.

“The safety of our community remains our top concern,” emphasized Angela King Taylor, interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs. “Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Riley’s family as the search efforts continue. We are committed to providing them with any assistance they may need, and we urge anyone in need of support to utilize our counseling resources.”

According to the police, Strain is described as being 6 feet, 5 inches tall with blue eyes and light brown hair. If anyone spots him, they are urged to contact the Nashville police at 615-862-8600.
