Alina Habba mocks New York AG following Trump bond reduction by appeals court

Alina Habba, the attorney representing former President Trump, took a jab at New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) following a substantial reduction in the bond amount he is required to pay as he appeals his civil fraud penalty, which amounts to millions of dollars.

During her appearance on Fox News’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday evening, Habba was questioned by the host regarding the court’s recent decision to reduce Trump’s bond from $464 million to $175 million.

“We emerged victorious,” she exclaimed. “Well, actually, we haven’t won yet. You know when we will truly win? It’s when we successfully reverse this situation, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen.”

Habba expressed strong disapproval of James and Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision in the case. Initially, Judge Engoron had ordered Trump to pay $355 million, along with interest, after finding him guilty of conspiring to deceive banks and insurers about his net worth. The judge also instructed Trump to pay prejudgment interest, which continued to accumulate at a rate of $112,000 per day for each transaction involved in the case. As a result, the total amount owed had reached $464 million by the time the appeals court intervened to reduce his bond.

According to Habba, Letitia had to face the consequences of her actions today. She had to retract and take back every tweet she had posted since Judge Engoron issued his unjust order. The order had a twisted logic and an outrageously high number, which not only affected Donald Trump but also had a negative impact on the American people.

Habba expressed her curiosity about James’ online post following the court’s decision, stating that she would be interested in seeing what he had to say. She admitted to finding enjoyment in sharing updates regarding the daily interest accruing on Trump’s penalty.

Trump and his legal team made efforts to secure a bond that would cover the substantial amount, but they were unsuccessful before the deadline on Monday. However, a five-judge appeals panel intervened and temporarily halted the enforcement of the judgment, on the condition that Trump pays a considerably reduced bond within 10 days.

In the past, James, who initiated the initial civil fraud case against Trump, mentioned that in the event that she couldn’t meet the Monday deadline for the penalty, she might start seizing his assets.

Trump’s attorney expressed her pride in the appeals court’s decision, stating that it restored some faith in the justice system. She went on to criticize James and others who seemed pleased to witness the former president facing the deadline without any means to fulfill the payment.

Habba expressed her satisfaction, stating, “I hope she had a taste of humble pie today. It was served to her, just a small piece, but there’s more where that came from in the coming years.”
