Authorities Conducting Search For Virginia Tech Student Who Disappeared Last Week

Aiexpress – A 20-year-old Virginia Tech student is currently being searched for after he failed to arrive at his parents’ home as planned last week, according to school officials.

The Montgomery County, Va. Sheriff’s Department is currently seeking information on the whereabouts of Johnny Roop. Roop was last seen on Friday at his apartment complex in Merrimac, Va., which is located less than 2 miles from the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Va.

Roop had plans to travel to his parents’ residence in Abingdon, Va. His intention was to take an online exam at 5 p.m. Unfortunately, he did not reach his destination as expected.

At 4:26 p.m. on Friday, his cellphone signal was last detected near the New River Valley Mall along U.S. Hwy. 460 just south of Merrimac.

According to the sheriff’s office, the student was behind the wheel of a black 2018 Toyota Camry bearing the Virginia license plate number TXW6643. The vehicle is adorned with a Virginia Tech flag sticker on the rear window.

One of the childhood friends of the missing student expressed deep concern and worry over the situation.

According to Isaac Childress, in an interview with WSLS-TV in Roanoke, Va., John is not the type of person who simply disappears. Childress mentioned that while it’s normal for some friends to go off the grid for a few days, John is known to be family and friend-oriented, making his absence unusual.

If you have any information about Roop’s location, please contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 540-382-4343.
