The Bed-Stuy community is coming together to support a local restaurant that was recently vandalized with offensive and racist graffiti.

Metullus expressed his initial confusion and uncertainty regarding the situation, stating, “I really didn’t know how to take it.” However, instead of dismissing it, he decided to take action and report the incident. As he contemplated the incident further, he acknowledged the importance of addressing it, saying, “OK, I got to report it.”

The incident was immediately shared on Facebook, sparking a rapid response from the community.

“People showed up to support us. The community, regulars, and families came together in a show of unity. I’m not sure what the suspect intended by their actions, but if anything, it had the opposite effect. It brought us even closer as a community,” shared Erica Muniz, the manager.

Customers have continued to return every day since then.

According to her, the establishment exudes a unique and welcoming ambiance that adds to the overall experience.

According to the police, as of Saturday night, they have not been able to identify a suspect in the case and it appears that the person responsible managed to avoid being captured on the security camera.

According to Muniz, the individual or individuals responsible did not succeed in creating chaos.

“Whatever you were trying to do, [it] didn’t work. It just brought us together more, so I just really hope that it doesn’t happen again and everybody’s on the lookout now, so if they try it again it’s not going to be good,” she says.
