Customs Agents Seize Over 6 Tons Of Methamphetamine At Texas Border

On Sunday, CPB reported that they had intercepted a shipment from a tractor trailer at the Camino Real International Bridge.

According to a press release by CBP on Thursday, officers discovered approximately 13,101 pounds of suspected methamphetamine in the conveyance after conducting a thorough and non-intrusive inspection using a canine detection system.

According to Donald Kusser, the Director of Field Operations for the Laredo Field Office, the recent seizure of a massive amount of methamphetamine is a stark reminder of the constant narcotics threat that CBP officers encounter in their daily work. This particular seizure stands out as the largest ever accomplished by CBP officers at a port of entry, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

According to the CPB, the confiscated items are estimated to be worth approximately $117.1 million on the street.

Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Mark Dawson expressed concern over the long-standing issue of drug trafficking organizations profiting at the expense of communities. He emphasized the devastating consequences of these harmful substances, which include addiction, death, and despair.

Agents from Homeland Security Special Investigations have taken custody of the shipment.
