The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) claimed police detained a woman in connection with the disappearance of a woman in Southwest D.C.
According to MPD, 25-year-old Chyna Crawford of Southwest, D.C., was reported missing on October 26, 2023. The last sighting of Crawford occurred on October 23, 2023, around 10 p.m. on the 4000 block of South Capitol St. SW
Her relatives informed DC News Now in November that they were concerned about her safety. Her mother, Elisa Crawford, stated at the time that it was unusual not to hear from her daughter.
“It’s the hardest thing I think I’ve ever had to deal with in my life,” Elisa Crawford told DC News Now in November. “That’s not only my daughter; that’s my friend.”
The police concluded that the circumstances surrounding her disappearance were suspicious.
According to MPD, Lashawn Washington, 32, of Southeast, has been indicted on many crimes, and a D.C. Superior Court bench warrant has been issued for her arrest.
On March 26, police arrested Washington. Her charges include first-degree murder, felony murder, kidnapping, and obstruction of justice.
