Donald Trump wins Georgia GOP primary

Former President Trump emerges victorious in the Republican primary in Georgia, as reported by Decision Desk HQ.

Trump was not anticipated to encounter any significant competition in Georgia, a state that provides 59 delegates in the Republican race. This was especially true after his rival, Nikki Haley, withdrew from the GOP primary last week.

Questions have arisen about whether members of the GOP would still cast a ballot for Haley as a protest vote against Trump. Even though Haley has dropped out of the race, she can still receive votes and delegates in the Republican nominating contests.

Georgia holds significant importance in the upcoming presidential election as it is one of the few states that can heavily influence the outcome. In the previous election, Biden narrowly secured a victory in Georgia by a margin of less than a quarter of a percentage point.
