Ex-indiana Sheriff’s Daughter Becomes Latest Individual Charged In Alleged Family Corruption Scheme

It was reported that the daughter of former Indiana Sheriff Jamey Noel has been arrested, charged, or investigated as part of an extensive corruption investigation in Clark County. This development adds to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the ex-official’s family.

Kasey Noel, a 27-year-old woman, was taken into custody on Friday after being accused of using funds from a local volunteer firefighters association for her own personal expenses. According to court records obtained by various local news outlets, Kasey Noel is facing charges of theft and tax evasion, with five counts of theft and four counts of tax evasion being brought against her.

According to investigators, Noel accumulated over $108,000 in charges on the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association’s credit cards from 2019 to 2023. The charges consisted of personal expenses like clothing, tanning, food, trips, alcohol, and purchases from Netflix and Amazon.

Kevin Wilkerson, a former board member of the firefighters association from 2018 to 2023, incurred over $295,000 in charges deemed “personal” by the investigators.

Kasey Noel, an administrative assistant, was employed by her father, who was arrested in November and is currently facing 25 felony charges. These charges include theft, ghost employment, and tax fraud. He has pleaded not guilty to all allegations.

Misty Noel, the mother of the individual in question, was apprehended last week on charges of theft and tax fraud. She has since entered a plea of not guilty to the ten felony charges brought against her.

On Friday, the police also submitted a petition to reopen the estate of William “Leon” Noel, the brother of Jamey Noel. According to their claims, Jamey and Kasey Noel allegedly kept over $100,000 from the proceeds of their brother’s property sales following his death in 2018.

Jamey Noel was responsible for overseeing his brother’s estate, which consisted of a bank account and two properties, including a primary residence and another house.

According to investigators, Kasey Noel purchased Leon Noel’s house in 2019 for a price considerably lower than its actual value, at $180,000. Furthermore, her father generously gifted her $36,000 worth of equity in the property, which she never repaid to the estate.

According to court documents, Jamey Noel wrote two checks for $36,000 to his brother’s children in 2019. However, the checks bounced due to insufficient funds. It was not until Noel was charged in November that the children became aware of these events.

Kasey Noel remains in custody at the Scott County jail without bond, and she is scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday.
