Explosive device hurled onto porch of Satanic temple in Massachusetts

According to local law police, A person threw an explosive device that destroyed the porch of The Satanic Temple in Salem, Massachusetts, while no one was inside.

According to a press release from the police, an explosive device was thrown at approximately 4:14 a.m. local time on Monday. Staff members detected the device around 4:00 p.m.

State police bomb technicians ensured the device posed no threat, while the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) provided assistance in the investigation. Additionally, police dogs were deployed to clear the area for any potential secondary devices.

No additional information on the extent of the damage was provided. The Hill has contacted both The Satanic Temple and the Salem police for their response.

Law enforcement authorities, including the police and an FBI joint terrorism task force, are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

In Salem, the organization’s headquarters features a gallery that showcases exhibits on Satanism and the historical witch hunts. The website of the Satanic Temple states that the center frequently hosts and conducts formal ceremonial events, lectures, screenings, and meetings.

According to the news release from the Salem police, the center has previously encountered bomb threats.
