Georgia College Student’s Death Attributed To Biden’s Failure To Address Border Security, Claims Kemp

Aiexpress – In an open letter addressed to President Joe Biden and his administration, Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) asserts that the lack of action in securing the southern border has resulted in the tragic death of a college student from Georgia.

The letter follows the identification of Jose Ibarra as the sole suspect in the murder of Laken Riley, an Augusta University nursing student whose body was discovered on the University of Georgia’s campus. Ibarra, an illegal Venezuelan immigrant, had entered the United States through El Paso, Texas, in September 2022 and was subsequently released due to limited detention space, as reported by NewsNation.

In his letter to President Biden, Kemp emphasizes the consequences of the administration’s actions, stating that every state in the country has been affected by the dire consequences of an unsecured U.S. southern border. He reveals that over nine million individuals have crossed the border illegally since Biden assumed office, and there is an unknown number of undocumented migrants who were not apprehended or processed. Additionally, Kemp highlights the alarming fact that at least 58 individuals on the terror watchlist have been encountered between ports of entry in this fiscal year alone.

According to the Georgia Republican, Ibarra’s arrest resulted in the arrest of his brother, Diego Ibarra, on charges of possessing a fraudulent U.S. permanent resident card. Despite being arrested multiple times since September 2023, the Department of Justice has confirmed that Diego Ibarra was released “while his asylum claims are being processed,” as stated in Kemp’s letter.

“The failures of your administration have resulted in illegal entry into our country, and the American people have the right to know who is responsible for this. It is crucial that we understand the risks and challenges that each state now has to confront,” Kemp emphasized in his letter.

Jose Ibarra faces a slew of charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another, as stated by UGA police chief Jeffrey Clark. According to Fox News, campus police have found no link between Riley and Jose Ibarra.

Augusta University paid tribute to Riley, recognizing her as a brilliant and committed student after her passing. During the previous semester, she achieved the remarkable feat of making it onto the dean’s list.

The funeral for Riley is set to take place on Friday afternoon.
