Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger discusses being mocked by Larry David with Dan Abrams

Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, affirmed on Monday that he was not upset by Larry David’s portrayal of him in the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

In the first episode of the new season, David gets arrested for giving a bottle of water to a friend waiting in line to vote. This scene takes a jab at Georgia’s 2021 law that banned individuals from providing food or water to voters, aiming to curb campaigning activities in voting lines.

In an interview with Raffensperger on Monday, NewsNation anchor and Mediaite founder Dan Abrams asked the Georgia secretary of state, “Were you a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan before all of this, or was this the first time you became aware of the show?”

“Well, I’m a conservative Republican, but I’m just not mad about it,” Raffensperger explained. “Moreover, those MSNBC employees appear to be irate about everything, so we’re just having a good time with this.”

In the letter he wrote to David mocking the situation, Raffensperger told Abrams, “I think Larry David probably fell out of his chair when he received that letter from me.” Wow, a Republican with a sense of humor. “Must be a unicorn.”

He concluded, “However, we are committed to ensuring that elections in Georgia are fair, honest, and accurate. We are not upset about it. Our focus is on enhancing the voter experience, ensuring high levels of accuracy, promptly posting results, and even injecting an element of fun into the process. We believe that elections should be an enjoyable and engaging experience.”
