Girl Dead And Boy Hospitalized After Being Trapped In Sand Hole In Lauderdale-by-the-sea

Aiexpress – A young girl died and a boy was taken to a local hospital Tuesday night after being caught in a sand hole in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

The incident took place around 4424 El Mar Drive.

Beach cones and yellow police tape were on either side of the sand hole, according to Chopper 4 images.

According to Fire Rescue officials, the boy is still at Broward General Medical Center after a six-foot-deep sand hole collapsed on the children at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea beach.

Authorities stated that it occurred shortly after 3 p.m. They received a phone report reporting that a boy and a girl, ages 9 and 7, were excavating a hole on the beach with other grownups when it collapsed. The sand pit was about five to six feet deep.

Good Samaritans on the beach making an effort to pull the kids out of the hole are visible in a video that CBS News Miami obtained. They were attempting to grab on to the hole’s walls in order to prevent further collapse.

The kid was buried up to his chest, and the small girl was fully drowned in the sand underneath him. Pompano Fire extricated both.

The son remains in stable condition at Broward General, while the girl was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office is leading this inquiry.
