Greene criticizes Johnson and fellow House members for supporting Ukraine aid bill: ‘Traitor’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, strongly criticized Speaker Mike Johnson and her fellow House members for pushing forward a substantial foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

Greene, who has been against sending additional funds to Ukraine, vented her frustration at Johnson, whom she had previously filed a motion to remove last month.

In response to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s post on the social media platform X, she expressed her appreciation for the House Speaker’s decision that “keeps history on the right track” following the vote in the lower chamber.

In a scathing critique, the Georgia Republican criticized Johnson for his role in the passage of a foreign aid bill, a decision that garnered support from the majority of Democrats. He didn’t hold back in labeling the speaker as a “traitor” to the entire country.

In a post on X, Greene expressed her gratitude to Speaker Mike Johnson (D-Ukraine) for allocating $61 BILLION of taxpayers’ hard-earned money to support a foreign conflict. She criticized Johnson for collaborating with Democrats to pass a bill, despite the majority of Republicans opposing it. Greene labeled Johnson as both a traitor to their conference and to the country.

The House of Representatives has successfully approved a foreign aid package worth $95 billion after extensive and heated discussions. This comprehensive legislation encompasses various important provisions, including $61 billion allocated for Ukraine, $26 billion designated for Israel, and humanitarian assistance for those affected by conflicts in areas such as the Gaza Strip. Additionally, it includes $8 billion for the Indo-Pacific region and a set of national security measures that could potentially result in the banning of the popular social media app, TikTok.

This week, support for her motion to vacate the speaker’s gavel has grown, with endorsements from Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.). However, Greene has not yet announced when she plans to initiate a vote on the matter. The endorsement of Johnson’s leadership by former President Trump during their joint press conference in Florida last week has made it more challenging to trigger the ouster resolution.

In addition to Johnson, Greene strongly criticized her fellow conference members for their opposition to her amendment regarding funds for Kyiv. She publicly shared a list of 139 Republican representatives who voted against her amendment.

In a recent post on X, Greene expressed her disappointment with the 139 Republicans who voted against her amendment. She emphasized that her amendment aimed to remove any allocation of taxpayer money from Mike Johnson’s $61 billion Ukraine war spending bill. Greene’s post was shared just minutes before the foreign package passed and was subsequently sent to the Senate.
