Hunter Biden Declines Republicans’ Request To Appear For A Public Hearing

Hunter Biden declined an invitation from House Republicans to attend a public hearing next week with his former business associates. His attorney dismissed the inquiry as a “carnival side show.”

In a letter obtained by The Associated Press, Abbe Lowell, the attorney representing the president’s son, strongly criticized the Republicans’ attempts to have his client testify in a public hearing, especially considering that he had already participated in a lengthy seven-hour deposition last month.

In a letter, Lowell criticized the invitation extended on March 6, stating that it was not a genuine oversight proceeding but rather an attempt to revive a stagnant inquiry through a spectacle tailored for right-wing media.

Rep. James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, recently extended an invitation to three of Biden’s former business associates. It’s important to note that these associates are currently dealing with their own legal issues.

According to Lowell, the idea of congressional “fact-finding” is astonishingly to have Mr. Biden appear with the discredited witnesses that they continue to promote.

Hunter Biden and his lawyer declined the invitation to participate in a private deposition, opting instead for a public hearing. They expressed concerns that GOP lawmakers would manipulate and distort his interview. As a compromise, both parties agreed to proceed with a sit-down testimony, which will be followed by a public hearing.

Comer responded by stating that the committee had called Hunter Biden’s bluff.

According to the Kentucky Republican, Hunter Biden had previously expressed his desire for a public hearing. However, now that the opportunity has been presented to him, along with his long-time business associates, he is declining to attend.

According to Lowell, his client will only attend a hearing if it is a valid exercise of congressional authority and also investigates the actions of former President Donald Trump’s family members in leveraging their father’s name during his time in the White House.

According to Comer, the scheduled hearing on March 20 will proceed as planned, with Republicans anticipating Hunter Biden’s full participation.

“The American people are demanding truth and accountability when it comes to the corruption involving the Bidens,” he emphasized.
