First Lady Jill Biden has announced the upcoming release of a delightful children’s book in June. The book chronicles the adventures of the first family’s beloved cat, Willow, as she embarks on a journey to Washington, D.C. and explores the different rooms of the White House. Along the way, Willow encounters the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to ensure the smooth functioning of daily operations. This heartwarming tale is sure to captivate young readers and give them a unique glimpse into the inner workings of the White House.

Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing will be publishing the picture book “Willow the White House Cat,” which is co-written by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Kate Berube. The book will be released under the Paula Wiseman Books imprint.

In announcing the forthcoming publication of the book, the first lady expressed how Willow, as she explores her new home, quickly learns about the remarkable individuals who contribute to the functioning of the ‘People’s House’.

The Bidens welcomed Willow, a domestic short-haired cat, into their family after adopting her from farmer Rick Telesz in Lawrence County, Pa. It was the first lady who spearheaded the decision to adopt Willow, named after her hometown of Willow Grove, Pa.

In 2020, Willow caught the attention of Dr. Biden when she unexpectedly hopped onto the stage and interrupted her during a campaign stop. The first lady’s spokesperson revealed that this incident left a lasting impression on Dr. Biden. Recognizing the instant connection between them, the farm owner realized that Willow was meant to be with Dr. Biden.
